Classic Car Restoration for Vancouver Owners
Restoration, rust repair, metalwork, bodywork and refinishing for classic, collector and specialty vehicles, carried out at our Maple Ridge shop a short drive east of Vancouver.
Restoration work for Vancouver classics
Vancouver weather is hard on older vehicles. Wet winters, salted highways and long periods parked outdoors show up as rust in lower quarters, rockers, floors, trunk areas and the seams around glass. On a car that has been through several owners, that damage is often sitting under filler and paint from a repair done decades ago.
Work here starts by finding out what is actually there. Where it is needed, areas are opened up before a plan is committed to, so decisions are made on the condition of the metal rather than on what the surface suggests. Rust is cut back to sound steel and repaired with shaped patch panels or fabricated sections. Where a panel is past saving, a factory or replacement panel is fitted and adjusted so the body lines and gaps line up the way they should.
The scope is set around your vehicle and what you want from it. That can be one repaired quarter, a stalled project that needs the body and paint stage finished properly, or a longer restoration taken through metal, bodywork, paint and final polishing.
Why owners travel out from the city
A classic cannot be run through a production repair process. Original panels, discontinued parts, previous restoration work, older construction methods, unique body lines and specialty finishes all need judgement instead of a standard procedure. That is the whole focus of this shop.
Maple Ridge sits at the eastern end of Metro Vancouver, roughly forty five minutes from downtown Vancouver on the Lougheed Highway or Highway 1. If the vehicle is not road ready, enclosed transport can be arranged, including for projects that are partly disassembled.
ICBC approved repair work is available for eligible classic and specialty vehicles. Contact Black Cherry Autoworks to discuss your vehicle and claim.
