Serving the Tri-Cities

Classic Car Restoration for Coquitlam Owners

Rust repair, metalwork, bodywork, paint and full restoration for classic, collector and specialty vehicles, carried out at our Maple Ridge shop a short drive east of Coquitlam.

Restoration work for Tri-Cities classics

Cars kept in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody live with the same wet winters and salted highways as the rest of the Lower Mainland. On an older vehicle that shows up in the lower quarters, rockers, floors, trunk areas and the seams around glass, and it is often hidden under filler from an earlier repair.

Rust is cut back to sound steel and repaired with shaped patch panels or fabricated sections. Where a panel is past saving, a replacement is fitted and adjusted until the body lines and gaps sit the way they should. Only then does the car move on to bodywork and colour.

Scope is set around the vehicle and what you want from it, from a single repaired quarter through to a long restoration taken all the way to final polishing.

Why Coquitlam owners come out here

A classic cannot be run through a production repair process. Original panels, discontinued parts, older construction methods and specialty finishes need judgement rather than a standard procedure. That is the whole focus of this shop.

Maple Ridge is a straightforward drive east from the Tri-Cities on the Lougheed Highway. If the vehicle is not road ready, enclosed transport can be arranged, including for projects that are partly disassembled.

ICBC approved repair work is available for eligible classic and specialty vehicles. Contact Black Cherry Autoworks to discuss your vehicle and claim.

Common questions from Coquitlam owners

How far is the shop from Coquitlam?
Black Cherry Autoworks is at 20170 Stewart Crescent, Unit #230 in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. From Coquitlam that is a short run east on the Lougheed Highway, and enclosed transport can be arranged for vehicles that are not road ready.
Can you look at a car before I commit to a full restoration?
Yes. Send photographs of the whole vehicle and close shots of the areas you are concerned about through the estimate request form. Where the condition of the metal is unclear, areas can be opened up first so the plan is based on what is actually there.
Do you take ICBC claims on older vehicles?
ICBC approved repair work is available for eligible classic and specialty vehicles. Whether a particular vehicle and claim qualify depends on the circumstances, so contact the shop to discuss it.
Can you finish a project another shop started?
Stalled projects are common. The work can be picked up at the metal, bodywork or paint stage, including correcting previous repairs that were not carried out properly.
